Ingredients

  • 6 burrito-size flour tortillas (10-inch or larger)
  • 2 cups vegan taco meat (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup vegan nacho cheese sauce
  • 6 tostada shells
  • 3/4 cup vegan sour cream
  • 3/4 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil for cooking

Equipment

  • non-stick skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Method

  1. Prepare all components: vegan taco meat, nacho cheese, sour cream, guacamole, chopped tomatoes, and shredded lettuce.
  2. Cut one tortilla into quarters or circles to use as patch covers for each crunchwrap.
  3. Lay one tortilla flat. Spread nacho cheese sauce in the center. Add vegan taco meat on top, keeping layers within a central circle.
  4. Place tostada shell on top of meat layer. Spread vegan sour cream on tostada.
  5. Top with chopped tomatoes, salsa, lettuce, guacamole, and cilantro. Cover with tortilla wedge or circle patch.
  6. Fold the edges of the bottom tortilla up and over the center to form a sealed hexagon. Press firmly to seal.
  7. Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Place crunchwrap seam-side down and cook 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Flip and cook the other side for another 2–3 minutes until both sides are crispy and heated through.
  9. Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve immediately with optional salsa or lime wedges.

Notes

Don’t overstuff the crunchwrap to prevent tearing. Warm tortillas briefly to make them easier to fold. For a spicier version, add jalapeños or spicy salsa. Gluten-free versions can be made with gluten-free tortillas and tostadas.
