Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 0.5 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 0.125 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 8 oz wide egg noodles (uncooked)
  • 0.33 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Equipment

  • large pot or deep skillet
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • sharp knife and cutting board
  • wooden spoon or spatula

Method

  1. In a large pot, sauté garlic in butter over medium heat for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Add sliced mushrooms and black pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in uncooked egg noodles, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Cover and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low. Simmer covered for 7–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender and most liquid is absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream gently until creamy. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Use Greek yogurt or dairy-free sour cream as an alternative. Add frozen peas, spinach, or a spoon of cream cheese for variation. Remove from heat before adding sour cream to avoid curdling.
