Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 jar (24-25 oz) pasta sauce
  • 1 bag (25 oz) cheese-filled frozen ravioli
  • 2 cups shredded Italian blend cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano (optional)

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish For layering and baking lasagna
  • Large Skillet To cook ground beef and sauce
  • spatula or wooden spoon To stir and break up meat
  • Aluminum foil To cover lasagna during baking

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add ¾ of the pasta sauce to the beef in the skillet. Stir well and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Spread the remaining ¼ jar of sauce in the bottom of the prepared dish.
  5. Layer half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. Top with half of the meat sauce and half of the shredded cheese.
  6. Repeat layers: Add remaining ravioli, then meat sauce, then remaining cheese. Sprinkle dried basil and oregano on top, if using.
  7. Cover dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbling. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

No need to thaw the ravioli — bake straight from frozen. Letting the lasagna rest before slicing is key to clean servings. Customize with vegetables or use plant-based meat for a vegetarian version.
